Hello! Welcome to the website of Catherine Brewer. Glad you stopped by. I’m an Artist /Writer/Educator anticipating my debut picture book KNOCK, KNOCK! in the fall of 2026. I was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. My art philosophy is “There’s no heart, without art!” Everyone is capable of expressing and creating meaningful art. My article was recently featured in NYSATA news Summer 2026 edition. Creativity- Moving Beyond the Idea. My picture book motto is Big Concepts + Fun Illustrations = Happy Readers!
I enjoy working with but not limited to : watercolor, color pencils and a variety of collage techniques. A definite must have: a pipping hot or iced coffee daily. “I’m passionate about creating meaningful fun, sometimes serious, sometimes not picture books that reflect our diverse world.” I want children to “see” themselves in my stories. When I’m not teaching my art students, you’ll find me in one of my many sketch books, creating a brand new flawed character or writing a rough draft or paint splattering a canvas!
